FRONT CRADLE
The cradle adjusts to fit tires sizes 21mm to 61mm. Griping only the tire it will not damage the rim as 2 o-rings securely hold even the hardest rider in place. A 10 degree movement gives riders both natural steering and balance. Sensors collect "left and right" movements and used in conjunction with "left right and leaning" sensors give the only realistic way to road steer. A counter angle is also in the design compensating any bike fork angle and removing risk of stress or torsional twist.
x
ADJUSTABLE ARM
Adjustable to fit any size bike, from the smallest kids bike to the largest mountain bike. Simply sliding the inner tube to fit the wheel base and lock into place to secure the bike. Also doubles as the arm lever to move the Matchrider® around safely.
x
HOLDING CLAMP
The clamp holds the bike securely to the Matchrider without putting any weight on the bottom bracket of a bike. All the freedom to lean without any sideways falling risk. The bike frame will not slip due to the padding and patented design system and safe for all bike designs. Rated for 150kg it can hold the full side weight of a large rider. High end carbon race frames can also be strapped in without fear of bike damage and all with a quick 2 minute bike set up time.
x
STABILITY
Freedom of sideways movement with a 4 degree safety lock out gives a natural riding motion exactly as on the road. To counter assist the stability has been made variable and manually controlled. From a rigid traditional A frame, down to virtually nil closer to rollers. Easily adjusted via the APP to a preferred balance and skill level.
x
FRAME REST
The rubberized non weight bearing contact point where the bike frame rest snug and secure. A strong rubber and anti slip pad protects and supports the bike frame.
x
E-BOX
The electronics hub connecting rider & road doubles as a sturdy step for the rider. Inside a built in universal power supply for all countries, custom electronics running the drive roller and the on board computer. The e-box connects wirelessly to smart devices via the app for all the bi-directional data functionality. Solid with extreme accuracy and simulation grade precision.
x
ROLLERS
What we refer to as the "road", a dual roller system that adjusts to fit any size bike. Within the front roller is an electric motor that can produce more than 2640 watts and 80.1 kph. The motor pulses more than 509 times a second @30kmph for an accurate and smooth control. A powerhouse simulating any environmental condition and the signature "assistance" not only resistance. The rubber density is a perfectly balanced formula for maximum tire grip and minimal tire wear.
x
STRONG BACK
The "skeleton backbone" of the Matchrider®. If runs from the e-box to the back plate, supporting the roller system in all its full adjustability.
x
FEET
The unit is a solid 35kg of precision machined aluminum and brass. Added wheels offers an easy way to maneuver. Lifting the front cradle and letting the wheels take the weight we can maneuver the unit into its next position with or without the bike attached. The wheels are removable.

QUICK TIPS

Powerful & accurate, matchrider® is the most intuitive indoor cycling platform in the market. Designed for all, from a demanding pro-riders right to a newcomer learning to ride.

Following these tips will ensure
a perfect experience every Time.

Download App

Although the unit can be used without the app by simply turning on the power, the app provides further functionality allowing you access to various modes of operation. It also allows for the adjustment of the variable stability as well manual input of environmental conditions. (head/tail wind and uphill/downhill).

Enter correct weight

Matchrider is all about accuracy and dynamic calibrations of "real world" physics. The correct weight will need to be entered into the app in order for the unit to implement appropriate inertia. This is because the power to weight ratio is a major consideration in the units algorithmic calculations. Particularly within in the native modes as the level of accuracy here is "simulation" rather than "gamification".

Ensure the unit is level

Having a unit level is imperative. Ensure the unit is level by adjusting the feet as necessary to compensate for any floor unevenness. This process should be checked frequently particularly if ridden hard and always redone when the unit is moved to another location.

Tighten all 6 feet

Once the unit is leveled it is very important that the feet are secured in place. To do this we use the lock bolt. This process should be frequently checked if a unit is ridden hard and re-done if the unit is moved to another location.

Rear tire pressure 100+ psi

The recommended rear tire pressure is > 100PSI (similar to riding on a velodrome). If the tire pressure is not optimum, variance in watts may be noticed.

Attach bike correct to clamp

Attach the bike correct onto the clamp, focusing first on the bottom bracket hinge. Once completed this can be (to a degree) a set and forget. It is advised that periodic checks are done to maintain correct levels of attachment as the clamp is the conjoint between rider, bike and unit. This multidiscipline design solution is at the core of the Matchrider technology and ultimately what delivers the "real road" experience.

Snug fit b/w clamp & bracket

As the bike needs to be secured to the clamp so does the clamp itself require a very snug fit with the bottom bracket of the frame. This ensures that the unit & the bike become one and that all load-bearing energy gets directed away from the frame. From pedal stroke, through the bracket, through the rear wheel and out through the rollers. (exactly as the road).

Take 10 minutes and climatize

When a unit is first assembled and the bike is attached. It is recommended that a quick test run in freewheeling mode is undertaken. The unit does sit a little high and the initial feel of the roller as well the lean take about 5 minutes to get used to.

Familiarize variable stability

It is also recommended to familiarize yourself with variable stability. Controlled from the app the default stability/lean is set to 100 representing an A-frame feel. Moving towards "0" is more pro setting giving a sensation of rollers. Each rider has complete control over this.

Ride unit powered "on"

Although the unit can be ridden without power it is recommended that it is powered "on" when ridden. This is the best way to take advantage of the realistic motor feel from accurate pedal strokes. The unit can also be ridden without the app but is not recommended as a rider cannot change their environmental conditions. However a rider will still experience a realistic and natural road ride including all the support to lean and turn with a "default" environment of 75 kg rider weight, zero wind and zero slope.

Apply weight on seat to break/stop

When riding the unit and trying to slow down please use sensible breaking pumps to minimize friction or wear. Likewise if not sitting on the unit but wanting to break or stop the rollers, it is advised that some pressure be put on the seat prior to applying the breaks. The inertia calculations providing assistance to the motor in the absence of real pressure on the seat will allow the roller to roll frictionless.

Limitation guidelines

1) The maximum rider weight for the 4 degree leaning lock out is 85kgs. 2) Set up of unit and bike on unit, wheel pressure and clamp fit with bike are important pre-ride checks. Particularly important if undertaking rides with larger gradients of uphill slow speeds for prolonged periods of time.

MATCHING
POV & EMBEDDED
BIOMETRICS

Matching performances

Matchfiles are a unique concept.

dedicated POV RIDING sessions with embedded biometric data re-ridden on a Matchrider®  in “Matching MODE”. the sole purpose of these files are to provide increased insight into pro standard riding competency, Achieved by matching biometric effort whilst adhering to the riding techniques in the POV.

Matchrider® is the only Trainer in the market providing true ASSISTANCE and RESISTANCE using “targeted SPEED” to match “real time” efforts of a rider with that of the origin file.  behind the scenes a “graded” differential between rider and the origin file is tracked  which allows you to manAge your progress while improving your riding skill.  a one of A kind, experience exclusive to Matchrider’s® mechanical and electronic superior design.

“WE ARE CONTINUALLY BUILDING A LIBRARY OF EXAMPLES THAT CAN HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RIDE AT YOUR GOAL LEVEL.  IF IT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN B AND C GRADE AT A LOCAL CLUB RACE, OR WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A WORLD TOUR RIDER, RIDING A MATCHFILE CAN HELP YOU FEEL WHAT IT TAKES”.

IN the POV, WE EMBED CADENCE, GRADIENT, SPEED, RIDER WEIGHT, HEIGHT AS WELL THE WATT OUTPUT OF THE ORIGIN SESSION.  A user LOADs A MATCHFILE on  the APP, selects Matching Mode and simply Presses play.

“THE MATCHFILE STRUCTURE IS BUILT TO AUTOMATICALLY PLACE YOU IN THE GRADE YOU ARE CAPABLE OF.  BY MATCHING HOW THE SOURCE RIDER IS RIDING AT YOUR FITNESS LEVEL, WE THEN GRADE YOU ACCORDINGly.”

MATCHFILE DNA

Used with the discipline of matching speed as well the visual riding style from the video a rider can experience WHAT really HAPPENS WITHIN THOSE MICRO SECONDS OF RACING A BIKE. THOSE EXTRA 1/2 PEDDLE STROKES THAT HAVE YOU EITHER HOLDING THE WHEEL OR BEING DROPPED.  POSITIONING AND MEASURING  EFFORTS ARE JUST A FEW OF THE SKILLS  PROFESSIONALS UTILIZE WHEN RACING. “THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE” becasuse STEPPing BACK looking only at AVERAGES or ONCE OFF MAXIMUM SPEEDS DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE JOURNEY. That is  what Matching mode replicates  and what immerses cyclists when riding a MATCHFILE…

MATCHFILE’S GOAL

riding a Pro- matchfile:  In the Long Term the goal Is to get to an “A”  Grading or better using  target Speed and POV for technical relativity. In the Sort term, the goal is to find your personal GRADE level & by keeping to it gradually improve your overall riding skill.  GOAL for personal: Re riding  you “own file” as (non pro) the goal is work towards “a” GRADE or better equally utilizing the target speed and POV relativity.

“GRADING TAKES PLACE IN THE BACKGROUND, WHILST ASSISTANCE OR RESISTANCE ARE APPLIED IN REAL TIME”.

THE GRADING:

THERE ARE DIFFERENT GRADES DEPENDING ON THE MATCHED (TARGET) SPEED. THE USER FILE BEGINS AT AN F GRADE AND MOVE THROUGH THEM UP TO A OR EVEN  A+ BASED ON THE MATCHING SPEEDS. A = 100%, B = 80%, C = 60%, D = 40% , E = 20% WITH F FREE RIDING.

TO BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE THE (SPEED) MATCH, YOU HAVE TO OVERCOME THE SAME RESISTANCE IN WATTS FROM THE MATCHFILE RELATIVE TO YOUR OWN HEIGHT/WEIGHT, INCLUDING THE REQUIRED GEARING TO ACHIEVE THE TARGET SPEED. FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU ARE THE SAME WEIGHT & HEIGHT AS THE MATCHED RIDER & ARE RIDING IN B GRADE, IF THE MATCHFILE IS PRODUCING 500 WATTS YOU ARE ASKED TO PRODUCE 400 WATTS IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE SAME SPEED. IF YOUR OUTPUT IS 500 WATTS OVER A 5 SECOND PERIOD THE SYSTEM WILL BRING YOU UP TO A GRADE. IF YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN THE MATCHING (SPEED TARGET) IT WILL DROP YOU BACK TO B GRADE AND SO ON.  THE GOAL IS TO FIND THE GRADE THAT MATCHES YOUR FITNESS LEVEL AND MAINTAIN OR IMPROVE ON IT.

MATCHRIDER ®

revolutionary Design

Gentle on your bike, so you can ride as hard as you like. Even if you can’t get out on the road, you still want to ride your favorite bike, whether that’s a prized road bike, or a much-loved BMX. Previous trainers have tended to use A-frames or direct drive designs which, no matter how smooth your pedal stroke or how well-dampened the device, will put stress on your bike’s frame. The Matchrider has eliminated this issue with a bold piece of design. Our frame mount is connected by 3 rubberized, aluminum cradles that are attached to your bottom bracket and down-tube with nylon straps. They’re fully adjustable, so you can avoid bottle cages, pumps and batteries without difficulty. Better still, the mount isn’t weight-bearing. That job is done by your bike’s own wheels, which rest on a set of rollers at the rear and a cradle at the front. For the first time ever, this means that you can ride as hard as you like on your favorite bike, without worrying about whether your frame is going to suffer, even if you’re pushing over a thousand watts like Robbie.  The rear wheel will be spared as well. The polyurethane rollers are as forgiving as a tarmac road – without the potholes, of course.

natural way to ride

We didn’t just want you to ride hard, we wanted to produce a ride that felt like you were out on the road, even when you’re inside. So the Matchrider has a number of design elements:

*  Realistic road feel
*  Variable stability
*  Stimulation of kinetic chain
*  Precision hardware
*  3rd party compatibility
*  Proprietary platform
*  Pro level simulation

what is matchrider®

The Matchrider is a revolutionary cycling simulator, which completely re-invents the traditional indoor trainer. It was designed with only one thing in mind: “to be the road”. Its unique, breakthrough design, which dispenses with fixed wheel or A-frame constraints, supports natural motion without constraining the rider or their bike. This allows you to enjoy the same biomechanical benefits as you would on the open road, even while you’re riding safely inside.

The Matchrider also possesses unique geometry through equal load-bearing and weight-distribution across both wheels. The entire bike moves under a rider, effortlessly releasing biomechanical energy from the rear wheel the same way as a bike does on the road. The wide diameter of the rollers allows the energy of the rider to be dispersed naturally, ensuring the bike does not slip and the tyres wear naturally.

This superior road feel is also delivered by state-of-the-art mechanical, electronic and software capabilities. These include unique user media files, called “Matchfiles”, which precisely capture multiple data inputs from actual rides. The Matchrider’s incredible sophistication is only matched by how simple it is to use.

Modes

With the ability to create a true road feel indoors comes the opportunity to explore how it can be used. Our team has worked tirelessly in developing dedicated modes. Each mode offering endless possibilities that are a direct result of the Matchrider’s precision electronics and unique “Matchfiles”.

highlights

USES

The Matchrider can be used for training, fitness, rehabilitation or even virtual racing. All modes are available for individual use or within networked environments. Sessions can be private at home or hotel rooms or public such as a franchised gyms and even concept fitness stores. In addition,   libraries of professionally created “Matchfiles” exclusive to the Matchrider ecosystem. Users may also be able to create their own “Matchfiles” which they can share throughout their social network. Whether matching or training, the Matchrider can be used as a stand alone or in group training sessions. Available through out gyms in closed circuit training environments and in future via virtual racing leagues.

Matchfiles: One of the main differences of the Matchrider is the ability to create and provide resistance and assistance via manual input control. This simulation  of multiple environmental conditions is  emphasized and focuses on “creating one’s own environment”. This is much different and far superior to simple training resistance based platforms and  what differentiates the Matchrider from all other “same/same” trainers. The Matchrider’s training intervals can be customized with full input capability of user weight, bike weight, all wind impact resistance and assistance as well as gradient both uphill and downhill). Total control over the  environment. Therefore when users or coaches wish to create complete workouts they now have both the tools to create and the platform to experience.

BIRDS EYE

FRONT CRadle

summary

Fully adjustable to fit tires from 21mm to 61mm the cradle won’t damage your rim as we grip the tyre not the rim. Dual o-rings to lock the rim into the bracket so it can’t jump out when sprinting. With a 10 degree lock out in both directions you can use this to steady yourself or steer naturally whilst we measure this movement (and tilt angle) as we apply this within our (VR) 3D environment. We have also tilted it to compensate for the front fork angle so your bike won’t twist and strain your frame when steering and as it is attached to the main frame it is level so the weight distribution is evenly over both front and rear wheels. “Exactly as it is on the road”.

Q: Why doesn’t the old fashion book under the front wheel work just as well?

If the bike isn’t exactly level then the weight distribution will be effected, un-strapped you have the risk of falling off, being flat it will cause your bike to torsionally twist and risk frame damage and steering isn’t measurable so therefore unable to be used with VR3D software

Adjustable arm

summary

Designed to adjust to any bike, from the smallest kids bike to the largest of mountain bikes, by simply sliding the inner tube to fit the wheel base length it then locks into place to secure your bike. The added benefit is that it also doubles as an arm to tilt and move the Matchrider around the house, without the need to lift but rather take advantage of the rear rollers.

Q: So does this mean I can have one Matchrider for the whole family?

Yes, it is a quick and easy process to change bikes on and off the Matchrider so they can be shared among all the family. The only limitation will be not being able to ride together if you want to train as a group within the family.

VARIABLE stability support

summary

With our patented design, the Matchrider has freedom of movement sideways of up to 4 degrees allowing the natural riding motion that occurs on the road. With this also comes instability and the need to balance. To assist, we have designed an adjustable stability control, from a rigid setting that provides the stability of a traditional A frame home trainer to the other extreme of no assistance to give you the feel of rollers except with the build in safety limit of 4 degree lock out. You can adjust this to the feel you are comfortable. The default setting is stable so you can get use to the feel and progress to your own skill/balance level.

Q: How is this different to a rock and roll, or any other rocking exercise bikes?

The Matchrider pivots from both wheels, supported from the central frame (clamp), as you do on the road. Sideways movement without forward momentum is a difficult sensation to achieve, yet the Matchrider has achieved this and feels completely natural as the flex is as a bike is designed, when peddling on the right the bikes leans left and vice versa, this can only be successfully achieved when the weight is distributed through the wheels and leant via the bikes frame.

All other systems artificially try to replicate this via different unnatural pivot points. The Matchrider also has the natural movement that results in the dispersant of the “flex energy” our the rear wheel, as a bike is designed. You can see this with the rear wheel movement across the rear roller (see video). Other exercise machines and sprung “A frames” all pivot from the rear axle so it is more of a sliding movement, not the movement of a bike on the road.

Variable stability:
VARIABLE STABILITY
******

CLAMPING SYSTEM

summary

As there is no weight on the bottom bracket of the bike (all weight dispersed to the wheels) so the clamping system is simply there to stop you falling sideways off the bike. To ensure that the frame doesn’t slip off the (four) rubber pads we designed a ratchet system to fit all bike designs and be locked in securely. The adjustable straps can be wound to length and finely adjusted to the locking position with the brass ratchet. The system is rated to 150kg, designed to hold the full side weight of the largest rider on even a high end carbon race frame without fear of any bike damage. Total setup is less than 2 minutes.

Q: How will the clamp fit around my drink bottle and Di2 battery?

Both the bottom bracket mount and the first rubber are in a fixed position to wedge the front of the bottom bracket hinge on the underside. The strap will self align to the correct position. The other two rubbers are adjustable to slide to any position within the rod length. The strap and hook are thin so in most cases can feed under a bidden cage but if not then can be positioned between the cages, battery or pump mounts. The only exception to this is if the Di2 or EPS older version batteries are mounted under the bottom tube or on the bottom bracket, this will obstruct the clamp. Recent versions don’t commonly position batteries here any more.

ROLLERS

summary

Contained within the front roller is an electric motor that can produce more than 2100 watts and 109 kph. Enough to outride any cyclist! More than 500 times a second (@30kmph) it pulses/ brakes to generate an accurate and smooth environment. It simulates whatever input you desire, Manual inputs, Matching (Matchfiles) or a 3DVR world, it can simulate them all. Full adjustable to position the rear wheel between both rollers so the rubber surface can grip and drive/resist as required. With all the bike/rider weight through the tire there is no slippage. The Matchrider is a 35kg platform stable enough to support all your movements.

Q: Will the rollers wear out my rear tyre?

We have selected the rubber on the rollers to provide good traction as well as not causing excessive wear (pressure spread over both rollers). You should expect no more tyre wear than from riding outdoors. As with outdoors it is important to inflate tires to race pressure as it is a smooth surface and this will assist to reduce tyre wear..... and go faster!!

REAR WHEELS

summary

The Matchrider is built as a platform to substitute the road, so it is solid at 35kg of precision machined aluminum and brass. Being 35kg it is heavy to lift so by adding wheels it is easy to maneuver by lifting the front cradle and rolling into position, with or without the bike attached. For a smaller footprint these wheels are easily removed (multiple unit gym class) and secures the Matchrider solidly into place.

Q: How easy is it to store?

There are two common ways to store the Matchrider, standing up in a cupboard or sliding under furniture. Being a rugged machine it isn’t fragile so by lifting the front arm and sliding it vertically it rests securely against a wall or in a cupboard. Alternatively, remove the central clamp system and this will reduce it’s hight to approx. 35cm and is able to slide under furniture, out of the way. For many, it is a display of precision machining so it is showcased as part of their cycling passion.
